Learn at the Zoo EOC

Emergency management has five phases. Annah keeps them in her guidebook — tap each one to see what the zoo team does, and what you can do at home.

The Five Phases

Phase 1 of 5

🛡️ Prevention

"Stop it before it starts"

Prevention means stopping an emergency from happening at all.

🏠 At your home: You wipe up a spill so nobody slips.

Situational Awareness

Situational awareness is a big phrase for a simple skill: knowing what is happening around you. Use Annah's four steps.

  1. 1. Stop

Pause for a moment instead of rushing.

  2. 2. Look

What do you see? Anything blocked, broken, or wet?

  3. 3. Listen

Alarms, sirens, or someone calling for help.

  4. 4. Tell

Tell a trusted grown-up what you noticed.
